Exploring the World of Maps and Creativity

CORRECTIONVILLE is an annual festi-ville about maps. Free, but not without obligation*. Mapmakers, artists, cartographers, anthropologists, architects, hikers, ecologists, artists, mountaineers, policymakers, researchers, and enthusiasts come together halfway up the mountain to celebrate the (im)possibilities of mapping. Every year, the program consists of workshops, studio sessions, presentations, exhibitions, expeditions, experiments, and a map market. There’s personal service from a good coffee bar, pleasantly decorated spaces, the best ‘vlaai’, and lunch with local and vegetarian/vegan products. And all this less than a kilometer from the national border in one of the most imaginative environments: at 246+NAP, halfway up the Vaalserberg.

At this festival, where cartographers and artists gathered, I had the opportunity to experiment with my tent, The Cocoon, for the entire duration of the event. I met amazing people and received a unique opportunity from Remy and Marlies.
